Il social media manager è una figura professionale nata con l’era digitale, ma non tutti sanno davvero cosa fa, quale sia il suo ruolo e l’utilità del suo lavoro.
Ad oggi, infatti, questa figura in Italia viene ancora sottovalutata, soprattutto da piccole e medie imprese e dalle attività commerciali: si pensa che sia solo l’attività di un appassionato del web che si limita a postare contenuti improvvisati. Niente di più errato. Il social media manager può determinare il buon andamento di un’azienda con i propri clienti sul mercato grazie alla gestione dei canali social su cui vengono promossi contenuti ben precisi.
Un social media manager cosa fa?
Ma cosa fa un social media manager? Il suo lavoro consiste nello stabilire insieme al cliente degli obiettivi da raggiungere, che possono essere brand positioning, visite al sito o ad un negozio fisico. Poi, il social media manager – affiancato o meno da un team – si occupa di definire la strategia per raggiungere gli obiettivi. Infine scrive un piano editoriale coerente con strategia e obiettivi, che pubblicherà secondo un calendario studiato sulla base del target identificato in precedenza grazie ad un’analisi del pubblico.
Molte aziende scelgono di autogestire i propri canali di comunicazione, e il compito, abitualmente, viene svolto nel tempo libero o delegato ad una figura dell’organico che normalmente si occupa di tutt’altro e non ha le competenze adatte per farlo.
Purtroppo, il pensiero comune che continua a risuonare è: “Che cosa ci vorrà mai per postare una foto?”.

“La mia ragazza, un amico, un tipo che conosco, mio cugino che ha la passione dei social… mi cura i profili nel tempo libero”.
Quante volte le imprese hanno usato questi argomenti, spesso dettati dall’ignoranza? E nasce così il classico post fatto a caso, senza alcuno studio dietro, da “social media manager della domenica”.
Bisogna ricordare che, sui social, le persone preferiscono non essere subissate da annunci e proposte commerciali casuali: si può si può affermare che le persone abbiano una vera e propria fobia per la pubblicità.. Infatti uno dei compiti del SMM e trasmettere sicurezza.
Quindi, non si tratta solo di una foto da pubblicare ma di un’intera strategia da studiare e attuare una foto da pubblicare.
I pericoli di una comunicazione approssimativa sui social
Oggi vince chi è più presente sul web e si propone con contenuti di qualità indirizzati ad un pubblico mirato e preciso. Perciò ogni azienda dovrebbe predisporre un budget per una strategia web quando apre o conduce una qualsiasi attività.
Se le imprese continueranno ad affidare la gestione delle pagine social a persone che non hanno alcuna competenza non avranno alcun risultato utile ad incrementare il loro business e continueranno a non esistere in rete.

Una pubblicità efficace deve attrarre il suo pubblico con un bel contenuto testuale o grafico, per esempio, raccontando una storia (il cosiddetto “storytelling”) senza che la pubblicità risulti invasiva per l’utente – e quindi, controproducente.
Con un attento e studiato lavoro di progettazione di un piano editoriale di comunicazione, il SMM ha tenuto conto del suo pubblico di riferimento, di ciò che si intende trasmettere e comunicare, dei punti di forza e di debolezza dell’azienda, dei competitors presenti sul mercato e di tanti altri fattori.
In altre parole, crea la “voce” dell’azienda sui social e sul web, in modo tale da renderla visibile, riconoscibile; intercetta i desideri degli utenti e crea il ponte attraverso cui le aziende possono proporsi per appagarli.
Insomma, possiamo dire che un bravo Social Media Manager contribuisce al successo e al raggiungimento degli obiettivi prefissati di un’azienda!
