Imen Jane è il nome in trend da domenica. Chi bazzica Instagram e Twitter probabilmente saprà di chi si tratta: un’influencer che fa divulgazione rendendo comprensibili ai più concetti complessi di economia.
Ma da due giorni Imen Jane è sulle tastiere di mezza italia per un episodio accaduto domenica a Palermo. La 26enne, infatti, condivide nelle sue stories instagram l’inizio del viaggio.
Imen Jane: perchè si parla di lei?
In particolare, ciò che ha fatto scalpore, è stata la storia in cui l’amica che è con lei, Francesca Mapelli, Director di Vice, chiama il proprietario del lido dove le due sono a fare colazione e si dice molto delusa.
Delusa perché la cameriera non le ha saputo raccontare la storia del negozio, e quando la ragazza spiega che è pagata troppo poco, solo 3 euro all’ora, per essere tenuta ad informarsi, Francesca Mapelli si scaglia contro di lei: “Ti basterebbe studiare un po’ di più, e invece di prendere 3 euro all’ora ne prenderesti 30 come guida turistica, portando in giro le milanesi rompicoglioni come me”. Si gira, guarda soddisfatta Imen, e le due si scambiano un cinque.
Sì, con la stessa Imen Jane che la sera prima, nelle stories, in giro per Palermo sfoggiava – e anzi, sottolineava – delle scarpe da 700 euro.
Ora, che si tratti di una manifestazione di arroganza e mancanza di empatia – e aggiungerei ignoranza di un contesto – indicibile, su questo credo si possa essere d’accordo.
È il concetto che sottolinea anche la recente campagna di TLON: “ Non è vero che se ti impegni ce la fai”. La narrazione del “volere è potere” prescinde da ogni contesto, e colpevolizza chi, dal basso, non riesce ad arrivare in alto: la mobilità sociale è il tallone d’Achille dell’Italia, e questo dovremmo riconoscerlo tutti, soprattutto chi, partendo da una posizione privilegiata per studi, contesto sociale e possibilità, fa del “io ci sono riuscito” il suo motto.
Internet schierato contro Imen Jane
È esattamente per questo motivo che tutto internet ha fatto muro contro il comportamento di Imen Jane e Francesca Mapelli, non soltanto con tweet e post di condanna dell’accaduto: in due giorni il profilo dell’influencer ha perso quasi 50mila follower, come si può notare dal grafico di Ninjalitics:

Una quantità pazzesca! Questo a dimostrazione che il mondo dei social, così come può portarti in alto in poco tempo, può affossarti in molto meno. Avere visibilità significa anche assumersi delle responsabilità.
Una storia instagram dura 24h ma non per questo è meno reale; e il caso di Imen Jane ci mostra come l’atto comunicativo debba sempre essere coerente con i valori che diciamo di portare avanti.
E poi, internet non dimentica. Perché se è vero che tutto, sui social, sembra effimero, questa è solo un’impressione, e per di più errata. Ne è la riprova il fatto che a Imen Jane in queste ore viene rinfacciato il fatto che abbia finto, qualche anno fa, di avere una laurea in economia che in realtà non aveva.
Sembrava un argomento chiuso, sembrava che tutti avessero dimenticato. E invece, una delle cose che più vengono cercate in questi momenti su Google è proprio “Imen Jane laurea”. Certo, in quel caso non si è trattato di uno scivolone sui social, ma di una vera e propria truffa anche ai danni degli investitori della sua start up, Will. Ma il fatto aveva fatto indignare, anche nel mondo del web, molti che di lei avevano imparato a fidarsi.
Internet non dimentica, e se pensiamo che non sia reale, beh, è un grosso errore.
